According to The Verge, American lawmakers took $101 million in donations from ISP companies. After scanning this list, it’s easy to see where the 107 republicans that sent Ajit Pai a letter of support got their incentive. Sure, republicans typically get behind reducing government oversight to let the free market run it’s course, but this particular decision will have repercussions that I don’t think they fully comprehend.
